About Us

“Acting together against all forms of poverty”

Who We Are

  • At home in AIC UK, individuals and groups aim to respond to situations of poverty and suffering in a way that matches need with members’ availability, skills and resources. In so doing, they try to address in a practical way the requirements of Matthew 25: 34-40 as Christian members of the human family.
  • At present there are Groups
    • In Glasgow (working with deaf and disadvantaged people).
    • In Darlington (with adults with disabilities)
    • In Bexley, Kent (with elderly people & homeless men and women)
    • In Abbey Wood, south east London (with young offenders)
    • In Mill Hill, north London (with ex-offenders, families and parish work)

Individual members not in a group choose their own field of activity.

  • Overseas we currently support a project for at-risk children in Kharkiv, Ukraine; personal and community development work in Kumi, Uganda, and work of the Daughters of Charity in Kenya.
  • Members are connected by a quarterly Newsletter and an Annual General Meeting where a report and accounts are presented, plans are discussed and a committee is elected to be of service to the association.
  • Developing our Spirituality is important to us, so times of reflection at meetings and other occasions in the year are facilitated by a spiritual director.
